Book Club Reading (January)

Welcome to the 1st edition of  the Domestic Vestige Book Club's "Monthly Reading"!! I am so excited about this part of the Book Club. Please feel free to give your input or to email me a book you would like to recommend. I am completely open to suggestions, as this is the first year for this, I am feeling my way through what other's might like.

To Begin....I thought I would choose a book that will go along with many people's New Year's Resolutions.

Financial Peace University
By: Dave Ramsey

Overview

Dave Ramsey knows what it's like to have it all. By age twenty-six, he had established a four-million-dollar real estate portfolio, only to lose it by age thirty. He has since rebuilt his financial life and, through his workshops and his New York Times business bestsellers Financial Peace and More than Enough, he has helped hundreds of thousands of people to understand the forces behind their financial distress and how to set things right-financially, emotionally, and spiritually.
In this new edition of Financial Peace, Ramsey has updated his tactics and philosophy to show even more readers:
  • how to get out of debt and stay out
  • the KISS rule of investing—"Keep It Simple, Stupid"
  • how to use the principle of contentment to guide financial decision making
  • how the flow of money can revolutionize relationships
With practical and easy to follow methods and personal anecdotes, Financial Peace is the road map to personal control, financial security, a new, vital family dynamic, and lifetime peace.

  1. This book really helped explain some of the mistakes that we all make financially. There were moments when reading it made me feel as though Dave Ramsey was writing about me or my husband.

It was an easy read, with enough humor added to keep your attention without boring you as so many "self-help" books tend to do. The terminology was easy to read and understand. So there was no fear of the use of financial terms that I was not accustomed too.

I am giving it a 4 star rating. It was clearly written, concise and enlightening. I am really excited to begin implementing some of the techniques that were laid out and explained in detail in this book.
